Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

* WHAT...High temperatures of 92 to 105 expected, with most areas seeing peak heat on Wednesday and Thursday. Low temperatures are expected to range from the upper 60s to lower 70s at lower elevations to the mid 70s to lower 80s in the foothills and mountains. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California. * WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 8 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. Warmer than normal low temperatures will add to the heat discomfort.

Numerous to widespread showers and isolated to scattered thunderstorms are seen along the southern semicircle of 92W. Very heavy showers, flash flooding, mud slides, and gusty winds will continue to impact Chuuk

Patchy dense fog is impacting the Western Southern Tier, especially in and near river and creek valleys. The dense fog will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less. Motorists should slow down, maintain plenty of stopping distance ahead of their vehicles, and use their low beam headlights when encountering fog. The fog is expected to dissipate between about 8 AM and 9 AM this morning.

Dense valley fog has developed overnight in the typical areas, but also in less frequent locations, including the Champlain Valley. The fog is more patchy across the higher terrain, but still present in many narrow higher terrain valleys. The fog will become more widespread around daybreak and reduce visibility to a half mile or less. Drivers are urged to use caution this morning and be prepared for rapidly changing visibility. Fog is expected to dissipate by around 9 AM.

At 311 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Tabor to near Nebraska City to Julian to near Johnson to near Lewiston. Movement was east at 55 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Tarkio, Rock Port, Fairfax, Westboro, Watson, Indian Cave State Park, and Phelps City. This includes Interstate 29 between mile markers 99 and 123.
