Description:
At 359 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Santa Rosa,
moving southeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Trained spotters reported. Estimated 50 to 60 mph wind gust
at Santa Rosa Lake State Park.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Santa Rosa, Puerto De Luna, Santa Rosa Lake State Park and Cuervo.
This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 263 and 297.
Instruction:
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from
windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large
hail.
If on or near Santa Rosa Lake State Park, get away from the water and
move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out
to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and
ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area.
