Description:
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Red
Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT Wednesday. The Fire Weather
Watch is no longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 482 Western Uintah Basin,
Fire Weather Zone 488 Manti National Forest, Fire Weather Zone
489 San Rafael Swell and Fire Weather Zone 493 Central Utah
Mountains.
* WINDS...West to northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph
Monday and Tuesday afternoon and evening increasing to 15 to 25
mph with gusts up to 35 mph Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Winds will decrease in the overnight periods.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Falling into the 6 to 10 percent range
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons across lower
elevations, and 8 to 14 percent above 8000 feet. Poor overnight
recovery remaining below 30 percent Monday and Tuesday night.
* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any
new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly.
Instruction:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or are imminent. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
