Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Including the following areas, South Slopes Of The Central
Brooks Range and Upper Koyukuk Valley. This includes the cities
of Wiseman, Coldfoot, Chandalar Dot Camp, Iniakuk Lake, The Dalton
Highway From Mp 165 To Mp 232, Allakaket, Bettles, Evansville, And
Alatna.
* WHEN...Through Tuesday evening.
* IMPACTS...Expect continued steep rises on Slate Creek near
Coldfoot and the Koyukuk River at Wiseman. Another 0.75 inches of
rain is possible in these same areas through midday Tuesday. These
rises will eventually reach downstream to Bettles on Tuesday.
Significant flooding is not expected, but residents should be
prepared for steep rises on the waterways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A slow-moving weather system is currently over the central
Brooks Range. Rainfall amounts between 0.5 and 0.75 inches
have already fallen over the past 24 hours. Where this rain
is falling over the headwaters of the Koyukuk River at higher
elevations, it is accelerating melting of any remaining snow.
