For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...South and west facing reefs of Guam and Rota. * WHEN...Until 4 AM ChST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The dominant, remnant southerly swell of Super Typhoon Champi will slowly diminish, so surf along south and west facing reefs will remain hazardous slightly longer through tonight. Afterwards, surf may drop below the 9 feet threshold to allow for an expiration early Tuesday morning.
Instruction:
Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
