* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible today. * WHERE...A portion of north central Illinois, including the following counties, De Kalb, Lee and Ogle. * WHEN...Until 5 PM CDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional waves of rainfall are possible through the afternoon with rainfall rates in excess of one inch per hour possible. Soil moisture and streamflow are already elevated, so any heavy rainfall could result in flooding of streams and flood prone areas. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation.
