Warning for the following rivers in Kansas...
Arkansas River at Oxford affecting Sumner County.
...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and
increased in duration for the following rivers in Kansas...
Arkansas River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Arkansas River at Arkansas City.
* WHEN...From this afternoon to Wednesday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, The Water Plant takes precautions on water
well pump houses west of the Arkansas River.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 8.7 feet and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this afternoon to a crest of 17.4 feet tomorrow morning. It
will then fall below flood stage Wednesday morning.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
Instruction:
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
