Description: 
At 140 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Broad Creek, or 7 miles west of Newport, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Havelock, Morehead City, Newport, Stella, Swansboro, Hubert, South River, Cape Carteret, North River, Merrimon, Straits, Pine Knoll Shores, Harlowe, Silverdale, Otway, Broad Creek, Great Neck, Wildwood, Kuhns, and Peletier.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Conditions are favorable for the development of weak, brief funnel clouds or weak waterspouts. This type of funnel cloud could briefly touch down, producing wind gusts over 50 mph. If a funnel cloud is spotted move indoors and report your sighting to the National Weather Service.
