Description:
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures and heat index
values of up to 112 degrees expected.
* WHERE...Coke, Irion, Nolan, and Sterling Counties.
* WHEN...From Noon today to 10 PM CDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.
Instruction:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
Never, leave children or pets alone in enclosed vehicles, not even
for a few minutes. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a
matter of minutes.
Stay indoors and seek air-conditioned buildings. Drink water more
than usual, and avoid dehydrating alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated
drinks. Check in on family and friends with a higher vulnerability
to heat.
